Kyphosis
Kyphosis is the medical term for a forward bend in the spine. Normal kyphosis is found in the thoracic spine. Progressive bend forward is more common with aging, called the round back or collapsed back. There is little to do for kyphosis except postural changes, stretches or bracing. Surgery is very extensive, usually requiring rods and longs fusions. If kyphosis is a result of an acute compression fracture, restoration and support can be achieved with a kyphoplasty procedure.
