X-stop
This is a new technology to help stenosis, in which a titanium dowel is inserted between the spinous processes of two vertebra to wedge open the spinal canal. This is a small surgery, outpatient mostly, that does not directly involve nerve surgery, but stretches the ligaments away from the nerves. It does not preclude future surgery if the stenosis returns. If the X-stop does not relieve the condition, a laminectomy to formally open the canal would be recommended.
